05 Nyborg squareIn the summer of 2012 Foundation HEI held a grand Tournament in the Danish town of Nyborg. We now bring you the good news that we shall return in 2013!

In the weekend of 6 and 7 July six knights will make their appearance. They will show each other and the audience their skill on horseback in the hunt, the joust and the melee.

The tournament will be held on the central market square of Nyborg, positioned between the old town hall and the medieval royal castle. The square itself was made by king Christian III in 1540 to hold his royal tournaments. It is an honour for us to be able to bring back to life this original function of the square! This years tournament will be extra special because it will coincide with the 500th anniversary of the coronation of king Christian II.

05 Nyborg bevestigdThis tournament will be even more special because for the first time since the middle ages there will be a joust in Denmark where authentic lances will be used, just like in the old days. These are solid lances made out of young trees and fitted with a steel coronel on top. This is as real and brute as it gets! These lances will be provided by knight Arne Koets and were also used last year in his grand Tournament at Sankt Wendel, Germany.
